UPDATE: 7-18-05

It is with great sorrow I send this e-mail. Brittany went to be with Jesus on Sunday. This was so unepected as the Drs. had told Terri and Allan that all the test were looking good and the cancer was in remission. Please keep them in your prayers as well as her her brother Ben and of course grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. This is a close family. Brittany was loved by so many and such a wonderful blessing to all who knew her.  She will be missed, but I know I speak for so many. We praise God for knowing this special child. She loved her Jesus and now she is with him. His gain is our loss. Heaen has a new angle in Heaven. Thank you all for your prayers and continued prayers.

God Bless you all.

Love in Christ,
 Rindi

UPDATE: 7-12-05

The doctor’s have now diagnosed her with Mitochondria – which is some sort of cell disorder – they think that her stroke when she was younger and her seizures have all been results of this disease. Now her Mitochondria is producing Lactic acidosis which is why she is having problems breathing. Brittany was placed in ICU on July 1st after a very bad seizure – from there the doctors found the Mitochondria and they are trying to get it under control – her parents are still trying to learn about this disease. Enclosed are pictures that were taken on July 9th – she will remain in ICU until they can control her breathing. After a spinal tap on July 6th she has no active Leukemia cells in her spinal cord. They will continue her chemo treatments as soon as she is out of ICU. They will continue treatments for approximately 3 years as they have found that the longer term treatment usually will determine that she will be cancer free afterwards. Sorry about the jiberesh – I am passing on what her mom has been told and her mom is still researching this information. I hope you can make sense of this and if anyone has been through this that they would contact us and give us some help!

Thanks again!

UPDATE: 7-6-05

We are so sorry this is late getting up-dated, we all thought the other was doing this. I talked with Terri, Brittan's mother last night and she has asked me to please up-date you on the latest with Brittany.

As of now she is in ICU in Memorial Hospital in Savanna, Ga. Thursday night she started having seizures. Her blood pressure had been up and not responded to medication. For 2 days she was unresponsive. She is now speaking only short sentences. Her blood pressurte is now controlled.

Her blood work showed something called Latic and it was very high. The Drs. are not sure why this is and have called in a specialist, a Geneticts . Her respirations are high 50 to 60 breaths a min. It is beleave to be due to the problem with her blood. A bone marrow test was done yesterday and Teri was told it looked good, but will have to wait untill all test were back.Once her white count builds up they will re start Chemo. All her hair is falling out and in a couple of days will be completly gone. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you and God Bless.

In Christ,
Rindi

UPDATE: 6-9-05

Brittany is doing well at this time. The first chemo treatment went well. (It went great!) We will have to go back for treatments once a week for a few months. There are three stages to the treatments lasting about 6 months - which will be done as an out-patient at Memorial Heath Hospital in Savannah if everything goes well and Brittany doesn’t run a fever.

We have to get a brace for her leg which is called an AFO. We’ve lost 5 to 6 year’s physical therapy on her left leg in just 2 weeks. The brace will hold her foot stable. The doctors seem to think Brittany is depressed, so we will be attending or seeing a psychotherapist, this will help Brittany understand what she will be going through the next few months.

Thank you so very much for the prayers and support. The cards from people we don’t know is really special and it means a lot to know people take the time for someone they’ve never met.

God bless everyone so much!

ADDED: 6-3-05

Condition=Leukemia

Comments: Brittany is 11 years old. Brittany was just diagnosed with Leukemia—she will start chemotherapy on Friday, June 3rd. Brittany has not had an easy life—when she was born she suffered a stroke and has limited use of her left side. She also had a heart defect and was given a pace maker several years ago. Brittany has suffered with seizures for many years. Despite all her health problems, you will never see her that a smile is not on her face! Her mother is one of our most faithful members and a dynamic SS teacher! I would ask you to please pray daily for Brittany (and her mom and dad)… If you could send this e-mail to your friends it would be much appreciated! We know that God is still in the healing business and we ask for healing for Brittany!!!

You can send Brittany a card to let her know you are praying for her:
