Garrett Halliday UPDATE: 1-08-07 I have just learned that Garrett went to be with Jesus a few months ago. Please remember his family...Elizabeth UPDATE: 9-25-05 Garrett is still the same.  He cannot walk, talk or eat (he has a tube for that).  He is basically just existing right now.  His family could surely use your prayers.  Lorri UPDATE: 4-25-04 Thank you for your concern and prayers. Garrett continues to deteriorate. It was no use leaving him in school - they've taken him out and he stays home with his mother all the time now. Please keep them in your prayers. Lorri UPDATE: 12-26-03 Garrett continues to hold his own. He has good days and bad days. His overall condition is steadily deteriorating, however. His mother tells me she can only bring him to school 2-3 days a week now, as he is crying alot more and seems to need to be with her more often. He can no longer hold up his head for more than a few seconds at a time. He needs to be strongly strapped to his wheelchair for support. If he is still alive next September, I don't believe he will be going to school anymore by then. Please continue to pray for him. I'm hoping that when he cries he is not in any pain, but there is no way for him to tell us that. It is so sad to see a child who was born normal, and seemed normal till the age of 4, reduced to this condition. Thank you for caring. Lorri UPDATE: 5-26-03 Garret remains the same. He had improved a bit after they put the feeding tube as he is now getting more nourishment than he could from eating alone. His disease is still progressing. Please continue to pray for him. Lorri UPDATE: 1-13-03 Hello, Just wanted to let you allknow that Garrett just got out of the hospital. He went to have a feeding tube put in so he could be fed his suppliments that he needs. He was taking one in half to two hours to eat. This way things will be easier. He did alright with surgery. He has a little infection but is starting to do better. We just got home today from the hospital. Were still very tired. We were there almost a week. Talk to you soon Ginger UPDATE: 12-09-02 Please all card senders...get a card out to Garrett today...his health is failing fast. Lets please send him as much JOY as we can and PRAY PRAY PRAY!! I have an update on Garrett's condition. He has to go to the hospital next week to get fitted with a feeding tube as it is becoming increasingly more difficult for him to swallow. He is losing more of his motor function all the time. Please keep praying for him. His mailing address is: Garrett Halliday Box 35D Saulnierville Nova Scotia Canada B0W 2Z0 His mother's e-mail is: gingehalliday@hotmail.com Thank you. Lorri ADDED: 11-10-02 Please pray for my friend's little 5-year-old son, who was diagnosed 4 months ago with a brain disease (metachromatic leukodystrophy) which has already robbed him of some motor skill, and will gradually decrease his brain function so that he loses mental capacity, may become blind, and finally, unable to swallow or breathe. Life expectancy is 5-10 years, with no good quality of life expected. the disease is progressing quickly and is incurable and untreatable. Please pray that his young mother has the strength to deal with this, and maybe that some miraculous intervention can be found, if not to cure, then at least to improve the length and quality of his life. He is a dear sweet child who never complains, always smiles, and who was completely normal up to the age of four. Thank you so much.
