UPDATE: 8-8-06

It has been quite some time since we have sent in an update.  Things have been going a lot better around here.  Everyone is healthy for a change.  I was just looking aver Hannah's page on the COTP site and I can't really believe all that we have been through.  I am happy to say though that you can put Hannah Faith on the answered prayer section.  She is doing really well.  The child developmental program are no longer involved with Hannah.  She is where she needs to be developmentally now.   As for her thyroid condition, we only have to see the specialists twice a year now.  She still has to have bloodwork done every couple of months but she is responding to her medication and is remaining quite stable.

For a little girl who we were told would not survive, she is thriving daily.  She loves to play with her brothers as well as with her friends.  She loves to sing (espcially while we are in the car) the ABC's.  Today we were down at the water park and she played continously.  She gets right in there now with everyone else.  I am so thankful that God has heard our prayer and blessed us with this little girl.  I don't know what the future holds but we are enjoying each day as it goes by.  Seems like we are in the calm after the storm.

  Thank you,
Nichole

UPDATE: 1-3-05

I just wanted to thank all of you for your prayers for Hannah. She is finally doing better. She doesn't need her inhalers as much and she seems to be a little happier (well as happy as you can get teathing). It was really scarey to see her so sick and I am glad she has come through it. It is so nice to know that there are people like you who value our children and pray for them.

Thank you,
Nichole

UPDATE: 12-30-04

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on our precious little girl. She has been fever free for two days now and is finally starting to eat again. Her chest is sounding better though it is still quite raspy and she still wheezes but at least she is not struggling to breathe anymore. Hannah has also been sleeping better the last couple nights -Praise God. She still wants to be held a lot and has times where she is really uncomfortable but she is definitely on the up and up. Please pray that as she comes off of her antibiotics that she will not relapse again. She has been fighting so many viruses over the last year, it would be awesome to see her healthy for a change. We are planning to take her to her pediatrician in Vancouver in the New Year to consult with him about all the illnesses she has had in the last while and her many asthma flareups. Please pray that I have the strength and energy to do this and that God will give her doctors wisdom. This is a little girl who desperately wants to keep up with her big brothers.

I also wanted to say thanks for the Christmas card and ornament. They meant a lot to us.

God Bless,
Nichole

UPDATE: 12-26-04

Hi,

I hope everyone is having a great Christmas. We were able to spend Christmas with my side of the family this year. Haven't done that in over 10 years. Was really nice. However, we really need your prayers. Our youngest daughter Hannah is 15 months old. She has been fighting an infection since the beginning of the month. She is on her second round of antibiotics and it keeps getting worse. Her fever keeps going up if we don't keep her on Advil. Hannah is a special little girl. She was not even suppose to make it to viability when I was pregnant with her. She made it and surpassed everyone's expectations of what she would be able to do however she is really sick now and I am really worried. The dr. said if she got any worse that she was going to have to be admitted to hospital. This means we would have to go into Vancouver to Childrens because this is where all her specialists are. We are very adament that she does not go into our local hospital because they don't have the knowledge to deal with her needs. I hate seeing her sick. She was throwing up today. I am a wreck. I know God is in control and can do great things. I also know he doesn't give us anymore than we can handle but honestly the last year has been a bit much for our whole family as I have had serious health issues as well. I am now considered disabled and am not able to look after my children full time. Our family needs time to heal, not more hospitalizations.

I would really appreciate all your prayers.

Thanks,
Nichole

UPDATE: 11-15-04

Hi Elizabeth,

Just thought I would send you an update in regards to Hannah. She is still doing well. She has had her thyroid medication increased twice over the last several months but that is to be expected as whatever thyroid tissue she does have will never be able to meet her physical needs. Over the last 2 months, things have been a little tough as she has had two viral infections which would take her weeks to fight. She wasn't sleeping and did not like to be put down. The doctor we saw said it was better to see if her body will fight off the infection then automatically putting her on antibiotics as was done several times in the past. She struggled for some time but she eventually did fight it. We tried our best to make her comfortable.

In 5 months Hannah will be having a full assement done to see if she is where she should be developmentally. Everyone is surprised that she made it this far and often point out how determined she is in everything she does. We are truly grateful to God for giving us Hannah. However in watching her everyday, I still get a nagging feeling that not all is right. I am not sure if this is God preparing me for something in the future or if this is just the leftovers from such a difficult pregnancy. I guess we will only see as time passes.

In His Love,
Nichole

UPDATE: 9-30-04

Just wanted to say thank you for the birthday card for Hannah's birthday. It is hard to believe that she is a year old now. For a baby that was not suppose to survive, she sure crawls fast. She is into everything and has her older brothers wrapped around her finger. She still goes into Children's Hospital every three months to see the endocrinologist (sp?). They are just monitering how what little of thyroid tissue that she has is functioning. Presently, she is responding to the medications and her asthma is under control for the most part. Right now she is struggling to get over a cold as it has worked its way into her chest. She is now on antibiotics, hopefully they will work. Just want to say thanks to all of those who have been praying for a little girl. God has truely blessed us. We may never know why we had to go through what we have in the last 2 years, but at least we know that God is in control.

In His Love,
Nichole

UPDATE: 8-05-04

This is not about Hannah's health for a change but does affect her because I am unable to be with her right now. I have been in hospital for the last month and it looks like I have more time to go. We are just requesting that people would pray for our family and that we would be able to make it financially through this time. My husband's job is up in the air and we don't know what is happening. We haven't been able to pay bills in the last 2 months and have income tax breathing down our backs. Fortunately, Hannah is doing better than expected. She is responding well to her meds and the drs say she should be just fine. Her thyroid is no longer working but thankfully God has given us brillant drs. who are monitoring her condition and are making sure her levels are continuously acceptable. I just wish I could be home with her. My inlaws have been there for the last two weeks but need to return home on the weekend. The boys are in daycare but we cannot afford to pay for care for our miracle girl. We are asking that people pray for a quick recovery and that I can be the best mom that I am able to, to my children. Right now I am dealing with severe PPD resulting from 2 traumatic pregnancies and am also facing a couple surgeries for some unrelated problems.

Thank you so much,
Nichole Czech (mom to Hannah Faith, Nathanael, and Jordan, each a miracle from God).

UPDATE: 4-25-04

Hi,

Hannah is doing great. She is progressing everyday as a normal baby. Unfortunately I have been unable to share in the joy of watching her grow as I have been in and out of hospital since January. Please pray that things will straighten out and that we would be together as a family soon.
In Christ,
Nichole

UPDATE: 1-17-04

Hannah continues to amaze everyone. She is doing amazingly well and is progressing just as she should. Her smile tells me that we did the right thing in fighting so hard for her. We had to make quite a few sacrifices to have her but she is worth them all. Her smile gives us a glimpse of God's love. We would appreciate your prayers in regards to work for my husband. Because of such a difficult pregnancy, my husband was forced to become self-employed. His employer would have rather me ended the pregnancy so that my husband would be more available to work. Comments like this show me how much his employer needs to know God's love. Please pray that we will have a steady income and that this man will find God.

Thank you so much.
Nichole

UPDATE: 11-18-03

I just wanted to let you know that Hannah Faith is continuing to do well. She has been diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism which is a serious but easily treated condition. It was a miracle that the doctors caught it when they did because her levels have been fluctuating so much. If they had not done the scan when they did, they would have assumed that (based on future bloodwork) things had settled down. The scan shows the opposite. Her Thyroid never fully developed which has the potential of imparing her mental and physical development if not treated. Once again God answered another prayer. He sure is faithful.
Nichole

UPDATE: 10-07-03

We are all home and doing fine. The doctors say that it is a miracle that she is alive. God sure wanted this child to survive. Thank you for all your prayers and support. The only hurdles we have left now is the usual issues with a premie baby. She seems to be handling life well though, especially when it comes to her big brothers.
Nichole

UPDATE: 9-26-03

Hannah Faith made her safe arrival here on September 25th. She weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce. She is in the ICU for hypothermia and low blood sugar but is a truely miracle baby. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
Melanie

UPDATE: 7-24-03

Nichole asked me to update on her unborn little one. Looks like its a girl. So she is very happy since they have two little boys to add a girl in. She is now 27 weeks and currently in the hospital. Her water is still very low and there is a chance of placenta previa. Delivery is closer and they have to determine the later issue so to know whether to csection her or not. One more weeks time would get this little one to the point where she would have a 90% chance of survival. They have give her steroids to mature her lungs and help her out. I will update more for her as I get updates.
Love In Christ,
Melanie

UPDATE: 6-06-03

Thank you so much for the prayers. The only other things that I can think that we need is prayer for good, solid, dependable childcare and the ability for me to maintain stability emotionally. When you hear all the negative details it is hard to remain positive. Nichole

UPDATE: 6-05-03

Hi Elizabeth,
I really appreciate the ministry that you have going. I thought I would send you an update of what is happening. I was admitted to hospital on Sat night with cramping. and was finally released today. They have found that my fluid levels have decreased by 50% which does confirm the leaking of amniotic fluid. I have been told over and over again that it will take a miracle to bring this child into the world at a healthy age. I am 20 weeks along and need to make it to at least 28 weeks. They won't stop labour at this stage if it does start so I am a little disappointed about that. I have been up and down with all of this and am really relying on God's strength to make it through. I have a nurse that will be coming in twice a week to monitor me and social services are trying to set up some resources for us for chidcare. Because of government cutbacks, resources are quite slim right now. Presently we are just relying on God's promise that he will never give us something we can't handle.

Thanks,
Nichole

ADDED: 5-30-03

I am having a very complicated pregnancy and was told this child will only survive through prayer. I am 19 wks along. I have been leaking amniotic fluid since week 10. I have also been fighting Group B Strep which has the potential to cause a life threatening infection in the baby. At 13 wks it was suggested that we terminate the pregnancy. This decision is only up to God. I was told if I continue on, I have the possibility of facing a life threatening infection. The only way for this baby to make it is through prayer. I have made it 9 weeks already. Please join us in prayer for a full term and healthy baby.

Thank you,
Nichole
