PRAYER FOR LYDIA
April 5th - 7PM - An 18th month old little girl -
Lydia Fayette, accidently pulled on the cord of a
Rice Cooker and the whole Rice pot full of hot
boiling water and rice fell onto her whole face.
She is in a hospital in New Orleans and as of 8:00am
Thursday April 6th, she now has contracted pnuemonia
and they have put a breathing tube done her
throat.
Please pass this request onto your prayer warrior
friends as she needs immediate prayer! I will give
you an update when I receive more information.
UPDATE 4-10
Update to: Debbie in New Orleans - Stemode@aol.com
Please email Debbie if you want to still encourage the
Family of Lydia as she will forward them to the Family.
You will see in the last paragraph how they have helped
her through this.
Debbie,
It is Sunday - 4- 9- 00 - 9:45PM - I have a little
information regarding 18 month old Lydia that was burned
after pulling the cord of the rice cooker and the boiling
water with boiling rice falling all over her head, face
and chest. It has been 4 full days now. I was with the
family at the hospital today at about 3pm. Lydia is
still in a very critical stage and is fighting for her
life - she still has pneumonia - Lydia is basically the
same. She has a lot of tubes & machines attached to her
right now, monitoring her, medicating her and feeding her.
She hasn't worsened. Lydia's grandfather told me that
the doctors said the neck and upper chest area may be
the only places at this time that may or may not warrant
graphing. By the seventh day the doctors may be able
to determine more about her skin. (Seven, my number!)
The mom, Laura, looked very cradled by the love
and support of her family, today. I'm sure the weekdays
will seem longer when a lot of them are back at work and
she's facing it with less of them to support her. On
Friday the mom told me " the doctors won't let me hold
her". I can't even imagine not being able to hold or
touch my child. I can't begin to see myself in her
position seeing her child that way in that PICU room.
The prayers from the internet people are so wonderful.
The people's prayers address not only Lydia but the
parents and the whole family - THEY NEED IT!
Laura came into the waiting room and sat next to me,
today; she'd just come from Lydia's room and she seemed
drained. She told me, "Thank you for the prayers; Oh I
see you have more". She had a room full of family and
friends, of which some weren't even there when she'd left
the room and she started to read, whimpered a little,
soaked them up, was unaware of the talk and carrying on
around her. She was engulfed in these prayers. I saw
with my own eyes that she was more anxious than I to read
them; she couldn't read them fast enough. She may have
only had a couple left to read, this being the second
batch I gave her, when she appeared to decide she should
maybe visit or acknowledge the people around her. She
turned to me, putting the prayers beside her, and said
she'd finish them later.
Laura told me, "Tell all of them Thank you!".
Laura's sister had told me that the prayers really
seemed to help Laura.
UPDATE: TUESDAY 4-18
She is being taken off the ventilator today and see
what will happen - her burns are getting better so much
so they are now only going ot have to graft the right
front chest area. It has been 10 days and she is still
heavily sedated but is doing much better - NO PNEUMONIA!
- still a ways to go but she IS definitely out of the
woods now - they took the catheter out now and she is back
in diapers. She still has not spoken in 10 days and the
parents are so worn out but.... GOD - the parents are so
appreciative of the prayers and have never experienced
"body ministry" like this. Keep praying - God is
working a miracle for her.
UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, 5-17
Lydia is at home and is walking again with help - she
also has NOT had to have ANY skin graphs - Praise God!!!!!
She is doing better than they thought at this stage -
so the parents are grateful for the prayers but they
do need to know the Lord in a personal way - we were
all hoping and praying they would come to know JESUS
through this but...... Thanks for praying and we
have to believe that prayers will not return void.
UPDATE: SATURDAY, 7-1
PRAISE THE LORD!
She is doing very well. She had to have one section
of her neck grafted, she learned how to walk again
and talk again rather quickly after being taken
off the medications. Seems to have no after
effects of this trauma. Praise God and God Bless
You for your prayers.
UPDATE: SUNDAY 8-13
