UPDATE: 1-13-03
Lyndsay is doing well. She will be 2 1/2 years old on January 20th.
She is getting stronger--pulling her trunk forward to sit up and
able to sit for a few seconds with support using her hands on
the floor. Her favorite foods are pears/rice and macaroni and
cheese in baby food. She will go to her pediatrician on Wednesday
for a check-up. She has her yearly cardiology appointment
Wed., January 22nd. She's been going to her ophthalmologist
frequently and he feels the eye patching alternating eyes is
helping to strengthen her right eye which he felt initially in
December that she had stopped using. She definitely was
tracking with both eyes at our last visit this past Wednesday.
She is still requiring oxygen when she sleeps and pray that her
lungs will continue to get stronger so that we can do away
with the oxygen. At the upcoming cardiology appointment
we pray that the trivial leaks around the patch in her heart
will be gone when they do her echocardiogram. Lyndsay is
such a sweet baby and happy. She's so easy and smiles
spontaneously to play with her brother and sister. She gets
lots of kisses all the time! She self activates many of her toys
which are musical with lights. She especially loves her new
Care Bear Movie and all three kids watch it with great interest.
Thank you for your continued prayer and support, it means
so much to us.
Love, Lynne
UPDATE: 12-05-02
Lyndsay went to see her ophthalmologist and genetics doctors
today. Her ophthalmologist is wanting us to patch her dominant
left eye over the next 2 weeks in order to make her right eye
stronger. She does not track as well with the right eye and if we
don't get the right eye working right the brain could shut off vision
to this weaker eye. Please pray for healing and strengthening of
her right eye and that the patch will not cause her stronger eye
to become weaker. The genetics/nutrition doctor was very
pleased with her development in the past 6 months. She is
developmentally at 10-12 months now and was at 6-8 months
development in June. She weighed 21 lbs. and was 29 1/2 inches
long today. He stated that she was doing very well in comparison
to other children he treats with Trisomy 18 and felt she was very
social and expressive with her face. Pray that Lyndsay will stay
well over the Winter months and not get any infections. Praise
the Lord it's been 1 year since she has been hospitalized. Thank
you so much for your consistent prayers and concern for Lyndsay.
She is such a blessing in our lives!
Love in Christ, Lynne
UPDATE: 10-30-02
Lyndsay is doing better with her respiratory infection. She
was able to come off oxygen for most of the afternoon which
is a first in the last week since she got sick. She saw her
Pulmonary and Rehab doctors today. They both felt she was
doing well and the Rehab doctor was impressed by her fine
motor abilities. She grasped a rattle in both hands and shook
it back and forth and also picked up a small ball of paper with
both hands and held it. She weighed 20lbs 9ozs. and was 28
3/4inches long. By her growth chart she should reach the 5th
percentile of a normal growth chart before her 3rd birthday.
She's catching up! We praise God for her continued progress
and know your prayers are instrumental in this progress.
I will send new pictures tomorrow of Lyndsay with big smiles.
Love, Lynne
UPDATE: 10-24-02
Lyndsay got a cold over the weekend which has gone into her
chest. She sounds like she has an early pneumonia and the lung
doctor put her on antibiotics yesterday. She's requiring oxygen
up to a 1/2 liter where she did not require any lately prior to this
infection. Please pray for total healing for Lyndsay in getting rid
on this infection and that she'll be off oxygen again soon. Thanks
for your prayers and support they mean so much. Please cover
her especially in prayers through the winter months and these
have typically been her most difficult ones in keeping well.
Love, Lynne
UPDATE: 10-14-02
Lyndsay will go to her Pulmonary and Rehab doctors on Wed.,
October 30th. She hasn't seen a doctor in 3 months, praise God!
Will send an update after her appointments.
Take care,
Lynne
UPDATE: 9-20-02
Lyndsay has a urinary tract infection and was started on
antibiotics 2 days ago. It was detected before she got a
fever and she seems to be improving already. Yesterday
she was in her exersaucer and moved her leg to be standing
right on her foot and locked her own knee to weight bear
and make the seat move up and down. She was also
supporting her head by herself in order to be upright and
play with the toys on it. She likes to roll the cylinder with
the colorful beads in it. Lyndsay seems to be getting stronger
in her gross motor skills and we hope to get her stander soon.
I measured her over the weekend and she is 29 inches long.
She does not go back to her lung or rehab doctor until the
end of October. We praise the Lord that she's been able
again to come off oxygen in the daytime and lately in the
last week even most of the time at night when she's sleeping.
Please keep the prayers coming as God is continually
working in Lyndsay's life as evidenced by answered prayers.
Love, Lynne
UPDATE: 8-29-02
Lyndsay is doing well. She was 20lbs. 9ozs. a week and
a half ago. She had another hearing test and she improved
by 5 decibals in her right ear and stayed the same in her
left ear over the past year. She has only mild loss in her
right ear and moderate loss in the left ear which is being
helped with her hearing aids. We praise God that no decline,
but actually a small improvement occurred over the past
year in this area. She has not been sick now for 3 weeks
as she previously had a sinus infection then. She remains
off oxygen when she's awake and goes on an 1/8th liter
when she sleeps. In the past 3 days she has been able to
sleep up to 1-2 hours without the oxygen which is a definite
improvement and we pray for coming off the oxygen again
totally soon. She's been eating well by mouth lately and her
teeth don't seem to be bothering her as much. We received
a bath chair today which will help alot in giving her a bath
as we've still been bathing her in a plastic baby bath tub up
to now. She loves her bath. Lyndsay smiles alot responsively
and lately has been moving her arms like she's boxing when
she gets excited. She likes to cross her feet and also rub her
feet together. She hangs her right leg out of her bed on the
bumper pad when she sleeps and loves to swing her legs in
her stroller. She loves going shopping and to church. Continue
to pray for her health as in the past 2 years she's had difficulties
once November and colder weather comes. Lyndsay is now
going to 2 year old choir at church on Wednesday nights and
loves the other kids and doing the hand movements with help
from Mom.
Love in Christ,
Lynne
UPDATE: 8-02-02
I spoke with Lynne last night. Lynsday has a sinus
infection and we would like you to press in for its
healing. She had to be put back on a little oxygen
due the infection but she is doing well. Thank you
for your prayers.

UPDATE: 7-29-02
Lyndsay just turned 2 years old last weekend, July 20th.
She liked the icing on her cake and smacked her lips.
She weighed 20 lbs. 4 1/2 ozs. and was 28 1/4 inches
long at her well check last week. She is smiling alot
spontaneously and has cut 3 teeth (1 up front, 2 molars
on the left). Her fine motor skills are pretty good as she
can reach up and play with her toys, play pat-a-cake,
touch your face and rub it, and pull on your hair, monitor
cords, and oxygen tubing. Debbie our main nurse took
her to the mall in the last 2 weeks and she sat up in the
mall stroller supporting herself by her arms for an hour
and 1/2. She was also pulling on the clothes on the racks
--just like a 2 year old. Please pray for her gross motor
strength as we are working with her to try to get her to
sit up on her own. The stander which she was fitted for
should help get her legs stronger and hopefully will come
in the next few months. Her hair is getting thicker and she
is more interactive since we started her on vitamin therapy.
We feel blessed to have Lyndsay in our lives and thank
God for His watchful care over her.
Thank you all for your love, support and prayers.
Love in Christ,
Lynne
UPDATE: 7-08-02
Lyndsay is doing well. She got fitted last week for a
customized wheelchair and stander. Our nurse took
her for her fittings and cried talking about how good
she looked in the stander and how she liked her new
perspective on the world. She just smiled and smiled
for the therapists while they took measurements for
about 1 1/2 hours. Lyndsay also saw a urologist regarding
her 2 kidney infections of late and he has put her on
prophylactic antibiotic (Septra) once daily to hopefully
prevent further infections. He suspects by a recent
ultrasound that she is having some reflux of urine up
from the bladder causing her ureters to dilate and plans
on seeing her back in nine months and repeating the
ultrasound. Lyndsay's new vitamin therapy is working
well for her. She has definitely been more interactive
to include spontaneously smiling all the time and vocalizing
more since starting the vitamins. The vitamins are a
special formulation for kids with Trisomy 18 and made
by a nutritional company in Maryland. She is still requiring
some oxygen when she sleeps. Since her last infections
she's been on oxygen again even though we had a six
week break from having to use it. Hopefully we will see
her off oxygen all together again and ask for your prayers
in this area. Lyndsay will be 2 years old on July 20th.
Praise the Lord! We feel so blessed to have Lyndsay
in our lives and pray for her continued health. Hope
you enjoy the enclosed photos.
Love,
Lynne
UPDATE: 6-14-02
Thank you for your prayers as we travel.
This morning we visited with Lyndsay.
Lyndsay looked great! She has grown so much.
July 20, she will be two and weighs almost 20 lbs.
She smiled big smiles at me and cooed at me and
then she just drifted off to sleep in my arms. I
just sat there holding her and watching her for
almost an hour. God has done great things in her
life and I know He will continue His work until she
is whole and complete. I hope to have new
pictures for you soon.
UPDATE: 6-04-02
Lyndsay is in need of prayer. She has another urinary tract
infection and tonight her sats have dropped some as she is
sleeping. This usually means the infection is starting to affect
her all over. A new antibiotic has been ordered by the
pharmacy but they could not get it until morning. I just
put her on 1/4 liter of oxygen and she did not like it after
being off oxygen for 6 weeks today. The pulmonary
doctor wanted to try her off Lasix (diuretic) 1 1/2
weeks ago however after 4 days we had to restart it
as her sats started trending down. It appears that she
still needs the Lasix for her heart as 2 trivial leaks exist
around the patch that was placed to try to close her
VSD (hole in heart). Hopefully as she grows bigger
these leaks will close and the need for the Lasix will
be no longer. Lyndsay is going to see a doctor who
does alternative medicine/nutritional therapy on
Wednesday and he has experience treating children
with chromosome problems. Some parents have
really noticed their children strengthened by his
treatment and with less infections which we pray
for her. Thank you for your continued prayers as
God has been faithful in Lyndsay's life.
Love in Christ,
Lynne
UPDATE: 5-10-02
Lyndsay is 18 lbs. now. She has been off oxygen for 2 1/2 weeks
which is the longest time off oxygen since Nov. 2000. She is
smiling alot spontaneously and responding with baby talk. She
can roll across the floor pretty quickly now and is trying to pull
her trunk up some and will lift her head up for a short period of
time when she is on her stomach. She is cutting more teeth lately
and having pain with it. Please pray for the oxygen to stay gone,
continued growth and strength, and wellness. She is scheduled
to see a rehab doctor on May 16th and her pulmonologist May 22nd.
It would be great if she's off oxygen when she goes back to the
lung doctor. Thanks for your many prayers and support.
Love in Christ,
Lynne
UPDATE: 1-3-02
Happy New Year Everyone!
Yesterday was a great day for the Stockman
family. Lyndsay was able to go off her
oxygen in the morning and has been off of
O2 all day yesterday and today. This is
quite a milestone since she hasn't been
able to come off O2 for over a year. We
are all excited about this and give God the
glory for it. Thanks for all of your
prayerful support.
Buster
UPDATE: 12-22
Praise God! Lyndsay came home Thursday afternoon.
She is going through some drug withdrawal from the
sedatives they gave her while she was on the ventilator.
She had a fever yesterday to 102.7 and has a bladder
infection and we just got her started on some antibiotics
for this. It seems that she always gets a bladder infection
after they try to catherize her in the hospital. We are glad
to have her home especially her brother and sister. She
seems to like the lights on the Christmas tree.
Love in Christ,
Lynne
UPDATE: 12-17
Lyndsay came off the ventilator today successfully. We
pray that she will get stronger with each passing day and
will be home soon and see the Christmas tree. Drew and
Jordan got to visit with her briefly today at the hospital ICU.
They were very excited as they had not seen her for nearly 3
weeks. Thank you all for your prayers and words of support.
In Christ,
Lynne
UPDATE: 12-16
Hello Everyone,
LynSday is doing much better. She has been
on steroids now for two days which has taking
some of the swelling out from her throat.
There is now a substancial air leak around
the vent, which is a good thing. We now
believe the reason she failed coming off
the vent is because of the swelling in her
windpipe. Lynne is spending the night tonight
and took off tomorrow so she can be present
when they remove the vent. Please pray that
she will be able to stay off. If this
doesn't work this time we may have to
give her a trach.
Thanks for you prayerful support. We will
time to keep you informed of Lyndsay's progress.
Buster
UPDATE:12-06
12-06-01
Lyndsay is still in the pediatric intensive
care unit. They took her off the ventilator
yesterday afternoon late and she had such a
grin on her face of relief and smiled at the
nurse three times. I held her for the first
time in a week for about 2 hours and rocked
her to sleep on my shoulder. I left for the
change in shift and to get dinner and when I
got back she was having respiratory difficulties
again. They put her on a bi-pap mask
(positive air flow mask) which helped
her and she stayed on it through the
night even though she kept trying to
get it off her face. This morning her
chest xray was showing some areas of
lung collapse and her saturations were
lower with more effort and they reintubated
her and she's back on the ventilator.
This has been rather distressing after
being able to hold her yesterday evening
and feeling we were over a big hurdle.
Her white blood cell count is better
today as it was 28,000 and is 19,000
this morning. She now on 3 antibiotics
which after the addition of the third
one her count started to come down.
Please pray for her getting off the
ventilator and her lungs to heal. The
doctor felt she needed a few more days
on the vent to get stronger before trying
again. Also pray for our strength as it
is hard not having her at home with us as
it seems most of our life has revolved
around her and it's strange not having
her here to focus our attentions on.
Love, Lynne
