A POEM FOR MORIAH
UPDATE: 11-4
Dear Prayer Partners,
I just talked to Cheryl and she said that
they have put Moriah on oxygen. Her stats
still have not been going up to what they
were before all this, even with the oxygen.
They have put her on an antibiotic that
goes right into her lungs. Cheryl said her
lungs sound coarse and there is a crackling
going on in them. She does get a little better
with Chest PT, and when she is sitting up. Her
doctor said he put her on 27% oxygen so she
could rest, and so her breathing won't be
labored. Also, he has increased her feeds
giving her less in each one in case of the
possibility of Acid Reflux and possible
aspiration being involved in this. Cheryl
said that her lungs were not tight like
they were the first night so we are praying
that this is breaking up. PLEASE PRAY FOR
COMPLETE HEALING AND WHOLENESS IN HER BODY.
Dr. Strope will be re-assessing her on Monday
about whether she will still be going home on Tuesday.
We are claiming Psalm 41:1,2,3 for Moriah if
you would like to come into agreement with us
in prayer. We would really appreciate it as we
know that God watches over His Word to perform it.
Psalm 41
1) Blessed is he who has regard for the weak;
the Lord delivers him in times of trouble.
2) The Lord will protect him and preserve his
life. He will bless him in the land and not
surrender him to the desire of his foes.
Personal for Moriah..
3) The Lord will sustain "Moriah" on her
sickbed and restore her from her bed of illness.
Amen, Thank You Lord!!
Thank You Prayer Warriors.
We love you all,
Julie, Moriah, Cheryl & family
UPDATE: 11-3
Moriah and Cheryl made it through the night
(Sleep Study) and Cheryl was thoroughly tested
as to handling all her care. Moriah was sick
to her stomach last night and had a fever, so
it was a busy night for them both. Cheryl said
she seems to have a bit of coarse junky stuff
in her lungs and a runny nose. She has also had
the dry heaves. They think this may be a virus
or cold, but it has caused her to have more
secretions so PLEASE PRAY THAT HER LUNGS WOULD
CLEAR UP COMPLETELY. This is so important for
her comfort and ability to come home. PLEASE
PRESS IN with us as this time gets closer.
Also, please pray that both Mom and Moriah
will have peace, comfort, and rest as they
had a very long night. I will post another
update if we get any new news from X-Rays
or tests. PLEASE PRAY that she would be able
to hold down her food with NO REFUX as this
has been attributed to the swelling in her throat.
I just pray she will feel better. :( Don't
like our little angel to feel yukkie.
Thank You ALL! Thank You Father!
Love,
Julie
UPDATE: 11-2
Dear Prayer Partners,
We need prayer for Moriah. I just talked
to Cheryl and it seems she is having a
little trouble. Her stats are dropping
into the low 80's which is very unusual
for her. Cheryl said her lungs sounded
wet, but she couldn't get anything out
when they suctioned her. The nurses said she
was very irritable yesterday and crying
which is also not like her. Her breathing
has been heavier and she threw up a little
yesterday. Dr. Strope ordered an X-Ray
(haven't gotten the results yet) and has
put her on an antibiotic. Her normal
Respiratory and heart rates when resting
are around 20 and 90/100 respectively.
Now they are 40-55, and 140/150.
PLEASE PRAY that her stats will come
up and that her chest will clear. Right
now, her chest sounds tight. Last night
they changed her Trach and checked the
machines and there was no change. Cheryl
was at the hospital until 4:30 am and is
to go back tonight for her turn to do the
sleep study so please keep her covered also.
PLEASE PRAY PRAYER WARRIORS! This is really
the first time in a long time that she has
run into difficulty and we know that as the
time gets closer for her to come home, that
we have to press in even harder to
keep her covered. We are SO THANKFUL for
all of you and your prayers. We are blessed
to have such a devoted family of sisters and
brothers in Christ joining with us and it is
a relief to know you are praying. God
Bless You All.
Father, we come before Your throne and we
place these needs before You, completely
believing and trusting in you to deliver
Moriah from any afflictions, sickness, or
disease according to Your good purposes.
Father, BE GLORIFIED. We LOVE YOU LORD!!!
Thank You that You hear our prayers in the
Precious Name of Jesus. Amen
Love, Julie
UPDATE: 10-30
I just talked to Cheryl and she said that she
had a meeting with the doctors today. The culture
of her secretions did not show any infection.
Praise God! She did say that they were a little
dry and thick so we need to keep this in prayer.
Also the doctors are pleased with her progress
and said that they have noticed a dramatic change
in her alertness lately. She is showing an
interest in what she wants, and doesn't want
I might add, :) Today she did not want to lay
down and proceeded to keep lifting her head up
off the bed to let them know. She was tested
and she is showing that she is at a 4 month old
level now. That is great news considering all
that she has been through! She is really getting
fun to play with and watch as she takes note of
her world around her. What a JOY and a BLESSING!!
Tonight is her first night alone with Dad.
This is part of the sleep study that needs to
be done before she can go home. He will be her
sole caretaker tonight, so please keep them both
covered in prayer. This will be a totally new
room for Moriah tonight, and a totally new
experience for Mike to have care for 24 hours.
Let's just keep them covered please, also....lol
for peace of mind for Cheryl. :) They told her
she can't call and check on her so it could be
a long night.
She has asked that we continue in prayer for
her DIGESTIVE and RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS. Thank
You All So Much! Thank You Heavenly Father!
We Praise Your Holy Name!!
UPDATE: 10-29
I just talked to Cheryl this morning and she
said Moriah has started to couph up a lot more
secretions than usual. The doctor has ordered a
culture to be done and the results will be in
tomorrow. She is due to come home on Nov. 7 so
we really need to keep her covered in prayer.
PLEASE PRAY that the test will be normal and
that the secretions will return to normal. Also...
continued prayer for GROWTH, STRENGTH, and
COMPLETE FIRMNESS AND WHOLENESS of her mouth,
throat, and neck area. Thank You Prayer Partners.
Thank You Heavenly Father.
UPDATE: 10-27
I talked to Cheryl and they have been
very busy getting ready for Moriah's
homecoming. The date has been changed
to Nov. 7, as some of the equipment that
they need will not be in until Nov.6.
This is actually giving them a little
more time to get things in order and they
have peace with it because they know
it's all in the Lord's timing anyway.
They have finished their CPR classes
and have the nursing home care all
lined up so that is a relief. Thank
You Father!
Now for the REALLY good News...Moriah's
weight is up to 12 lbs. 4 oz. She continues
to thrive and is doing really good. I went
to see her last Monday night. She is such
a little doll..SO SWEET! She was busy
looking around and watching and following
the toys that we were playing with her
with, and she was so focused on her
surroundings. She ate very good and
is back to drinking a bottle. A doctor
that was watching Cheryl play with her
to get her to stretch her legs and do
different things to improve her strength,
came over and was amazed at the things
that she is doing. Also she had her picture
taken to take to a conference to show
how good she is doing. Praise God!
Her continued prayer needs are for
GROWTH and STRENGTH. ALSO they have
said that her whole mouth, throat,
tongue, and neck area need to FIRM
up, so that she can eat properly and
get the Trach out. PLEASE continue
to lift these needs before the Lord.
Thank You So Much!!! Lord,
We Praise You and Thank You!
UPDATE: 10-19
PRAISE REPORT for Moriah! Thank You Father. She
is now at her all time high weight of 12 lbs. 1
oz. (almost 2 oz., I might add :) Even through
all of her surgery and swollen mouth and throat
she did not loose any weight and has now gained
some. PLEASE continue to PRAY for GROWTH,
STRENGTH, and COMPLETE WHOLENESS IN HER BODY.
Also, PRAISE for answered prayers for the complete
healing of Sarah's (Moriah's sister) throat and
the appearance of yellow in Moriah's secretions.
There has been no other appearance of yellow in her
secretions since that one time, and Sarah was healed
soon after the prayers went out also. THANK YOU
for your prayers. They are both doing MUCH better,
but we need to keep them covered in prayer still
for PROTECTION.
Also, the original date for Moriah to come home
is October 30, but they are having to find nurses
to be at Moriah's home for 16 hours aday in
order for them to let her come home. Right now
they say that there is a shortage of this kind of
nursing care. PLEASE PRAY that the Lord will
meet these needs, as we know He is our Provision
in all things, so we lift this need to Him that
Moriah will get the assistance in Nursing
care that is needed. Also, for the doctors
and nurses that are taking care of her now, PLEASE
PRAY for peace and joy in their lives. They
truly give of themselves in taking care of these
children and loving them, and we would like give
back to them by praying for blessings for
them and their families.
Thank You ALL so much for your love and prayers
for Moriah and her family and for her extended
family at the hospital. We love you all. God
Bless. We Worship You and Praise You Heavenly
Father. Thank You.
UPADATE: 10-17
I just talked to Cheryl and she said that
when she talked to the nurse today, the nurse
said that when they suctioned Moriah this
morning, it appeared to be yellow, which has
not happened before. Also her sister Sarah woke
up this morning with pus on the back of her throat
and has had a couple of bouts of Strep throat
within the past few months. She was with Moriah
just a few days ago. Cheryl will be taking Sarah
to the doctor this morning at 11. We know that
the closer it is to the victory of Moriah coming
home, the more we are going to need to press
in, in prayer to keep her covered in protection.
UPDATE: 10-16
I just talked to Cheryl and they are very
busy getting ready for the big day of Moriah's
Homecoming after 8 months in the hospital...lots
to do. She said they have started to take Moriah
out onto the floor of the hospital more to get
her used to change. Her doctor said it can be
very stressful for a child to leave what they
have always known and go into a new envoirnment
so PLEASE PRAY that this transition will have
the Lord's peace on it. We know He can Comfort her.
Also she has had to be suctioned more often
since coming completely off the vent and having
this last surgery, and the secretions are a little
thicker and whiter. She is on an antibiotic, so
there's no infection but we need to keep this in
prayer. PLEASE PRAY that they will become more
clear, and clear up altogether. We are asking the
Father for STRENGTH, GROWTH, and COMPLETE
WHOLENESS in her body. PLEASE PRAY with us
on this. Her weight has stayed at 11lbs. 8 oz.
which is good considering all that she has been
through in this last couple of weeks.
Thank You for standing with us in prayer for her
needs. We appreciate you ALL so much. Thank You
Heavenly Father.
UPDATE: 10-12
I talked to Cheryl earlier today and she had
a lot of information about what's ahead for
Moriah's homecoming. (Sounds good) She met with Dr.
Strope today and they found out from the results
of her stomach tests, that 2 hours after she has
eaten, only 50% of her food is digested, therefore
they do think that Acid Reflux resulting from a
sluggish digestive system is the problem that is
causing the swelling in her throat. As she gets
bigger and more mobile, this will get better so
PLEASE PRAY for continued GROWTH AND
STRENGTH. Also that her whole DIGESTIVE
SYSTEM will come into alignment with God's
Word, and complete healing will be manifested.
Thank You Father.
We actually have a coming home date. It
will be Oct. 30. At the present time Cheryl
and Mike are being instructed to do complete
Trach and G-Button care and have to be signed
off on that first. Cheryl replaced the Trach
and G-Tube Button today for the first time
and said it was easier than she thought. I
know they will both do a great job. They are
very good with Moriah. Next they will be learning
infant CPR, Regular CPR, and Trach CPR so they
have a very busy week ahead getting ready for
her homecoming. PLEASE keep them in your
prayers also.
Moriah will have Nursing Skill care at
home also for 16 hours a day at first.
She will have all the equipment that
she needs before she leaves the hospital
including a "nose" to go on her Trach
(had to get Cheryl to explain this one...
basically it takes the place of a heat
collar and provides moisture and filtered
air just like our noses so she can be
tube-free to get around), so this is
peace of mind also. She's one popular
little girl, so much good attention. :)
She will be staying home for the first
few weeks though, Dr. Strope feels she
needs to get used to her new surroundings
and doesn't want her to be over-stimulated
or stressed out. I must say Dr. Strope
and ALL the nurses and Health Care
Personnel have taken great care of her.
I have been very impressed by their
professionalism and loving attention
to her needs every time I visit, so a
GREAT BIG THANK YOU goes out to them!
Looks like it's finally happening. We're
very excited. PLEASE continue to pray,
we know your prayers are ALL part of her
care also, and we love you all. Thank
You...And Lord, We humbly Thank You for
blessing us with this sweet little girl
that You have taught us so much about
Yourself through, by just knowing her.
We see how much your heart goes out to
Your children, and that when we just
trust in You, You are always Our Provision
in everything. We Love You Father!
