UPDATE: 5-23
Dear Friends,
We are at a crucial point in Moriah's care and
a decision will need to be made about rectum
surgery. Moriah goes to U.V.A. tomorrow and
prayer for discernment would be greatly
appreciated. If the decision is made to
go ahead with surgery, it will need to be
done soon, as the summer is the best time
for her to have it done. We have seen some
definite changes taking place in that area,
so Cheryl is seeking the Lord for His
guidance as far as timing. Please join us
in prayer for her.
Also, she visited her regular doctor this
week, and got the "go ahead" to start capping
her Trach. It will be capped for 30 minute
periods 3 times a day. Cheryl said that she
has done great. Her stats and heart rate have
stayed perfect. Her weight is up to 16 lbs. 11 oz.,
and she has done well with keeping her food down.
Cheryl said that she has learned to do continuous
roll-overs on the floor, instead off just stomach
to back, and is having a good time of it. :) She
has 7 teeth now, and is really growing up. What a
miracle baby!! Thank You Lord!!
Cheryl has asked that we pray for her muscles
and coordination be strengthened and lined
up so that she will be able to sit up on her
own. Also, her hearing test will be scheduled
soon, so we need to pray for God's glory to shine,
and that she will amaze many, through His
faithfulness.
Thank you so much for your love, support, and
prayers. You have all been such a big part of
her LIFE. Praise God!!
Love In Christ,
Julie
UPDATE: 5-17
Dear Friends,
Moriah continues to do great! She is holding
her head up and looking straight forward. She
has 7 teeth now, and her weight is 16 lbs.
2 oz. She has her speaking valve on all day,
and Cheryl says that she talks non-stop. Her
new favorite toy is Piglet, and she likes to hold
it and shake it. Her favorite game is still
Pat-A-Cake, and Cheryl said she likes her swing,
but prefers top speed..lol...so cute! :)
Moriah has 2 doctor's appointments this week.
She will see Dr. Strope on Monday and they will
discuss capping her Trach. Then on the 23rd, she
will go back to U.V.A. for a consultation about
rectum surgery. We are still seeing changes taking
place there...so PLEASE continue to pray for
complete wholeness and healing of this area.
I will send out another update after her visits.
Also, Cheryl has asked that we pray for her
hearing. She will be having another hearing
test soon. The last test showed no brain waves
in response to stimulation, but we will continue
to stand, unmoving on God's report. Lord, may
YOUR Glory continue to shine forth in
Moriah's life. We thank You and praise You Lord
for all the blessings and miracles that have
touched our "little sister in Christ". We
love You Lord!!
Thank you all so much for your prayers!!
Love In Christ,
Julie
UPDATE: 4-25
Dear Friends,
This is a little longer than most of Moriah's
updates, but there is a lot to share. :) I am
very pleased and humbled in heart, to be
able to tell you what God is doing in her
little body. It has been a quick work
lately, just as one prayer partner, who has
been praying with us from the start, said she
was feeling in her spirit...
Moriah is now eating almost all of her food
by mouth. She only has her midnight and early
morning feed by G-button. Just a few weeks
ago, she was refusing to eat by mouth and
was having trouble with vomiting. She
is rarely having that happen now, and her
weight is up to 16 lbs. 2 oz. Praise God!!
She has seen two doctors in the past couple
of weeks who have looked at her lungs with
x-ray, and esophagus with scope. They said both
look GREAT, her lungs are clear. She is now
on her speaking valve all day, and her stats
are 99 to 100%. This means that she is breathing
through her nose and mouth, which at one point...
she could not do at all!! As soon as she has
continued this for a month, they will start
capping her Trach, to get her ready to have
it taken out!!
And she LOVES to talk. I was just visiting
her on Monday. She was "cooing and ooing" up
a storm. I was so amazed!! She has also
learned how to get people to play Pat-A-Cake
with her. She will clap her hands together
whenever she sees someone go by, and wait
for them to start taking turns with her. As
soon as her "playmate" stops or says, your
turn, she will do it again. She did they same
thing when Cheryl was rocking her in the chair.
If Cheryl stops rocking, Moriah will rock
herself until Cheryl starts back again. She
has quite the personality....and she's sweet
as sugar!!
ALL OF THESE THINGS THEY SAID SHE WOULD
NEVER DO...ISN'T GOD AWESOME?!
Her coordination has improved and she
is rolling herself over, and sitting up
for short periods of time. She is really
changing since the last time I saw her.
Cheryl was able to get her off almost all
prescription medications. She is taking
an all natural product now, that boosts
her immune system. It has had incredible
results in top studies at many hospitals,
and we have noticed major changes in her
whole overall health and development. Even
her therapists noticed the changes in her,
and mentioned to Cheryl how much she was
improving, in a short time. God said He
would bless her food and water, that it
would be a benefit to her body, and He
surely has!! Thank You Father!!
Please continue to PRESS IN for her rectum
and colon. We are seeing actual physical
changes taking place there, and it is very
exciting to see God's Hand on her life.
Also PLEASE Pray for her hearing.
They say she is profoundly deaf, but she
sures hears a lot to be "called" deaf.
We are believing God's report!!
They had said she would never speak either...
and now she has a "Voice of Melody"
This is a word that the Lord gave me for
her, when she was not speaking at all. The
first time I heard her, I cried my eyes out in
thankfulness to God. He is GOOD!!
Also, PLEASE PRAY for her head, brain
development, and strength in growth.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!
We know that your prayers and God's
faithfulness have made the difference
in every day of her life. We
cherish your prayers!
THANK YOU ABBA FATHER!!!

UPDATE: 4-15
Dear Friends,
I am happy to tell you of all the things
that are going on in little Miss Moriah's
LIFE. Praise God!! As you know we have been
asking for a creative miracle for her rectum...
She was born without one..and she had
some other deformities in that general
area. WELL....Cheryl has noticed 3 areas
that have formed that were NOT there before.
She even waited and did not mention it to
her nurses....YET one mentioned to her!!
SO....we are PRAISING GOD that something
is definitely happened in her little body.
PLEASE keep praying with us in this. God is
amazing, and we BELIEVE in His Power to
complete a GOOD WORK in her!
Also, when I went with Cheryl to U.V.A
last month, and they did the ultra sound of
Moriah's heart, the most amazing thing was
going on... As they were moving the device
around to get pictures...I couldn't help
but notice that there were light rays just
beaming off of her heart. They were so
beautiful, that I just kept watching them.
Now, I'm not in the medical field, but I
can tell you..I've never seen anything
like it. And Praise God, her heart is
totally healed, even though she had
3 holes in her heart at birth. God Is
GOOD!
Since then, she visited another doctor
who did a scope of her lungs. He
said that they looked so good, that he
thought they may be able to start
capping the Trach. Cheryl needs to wait
until she sees Dr. Strope to get his opinion
on it..but that is great news also!!
She still needs prayer for her digestive
system also. They have changed her medicines
around a bit, and she is doing better...but
still needs focused prayer for this to be an
area where she can eat totally by mouth. She
is back to eating some by mouth now, and her
weight continues to increase.
All in all, her doctors are very pleased,
and so are we. There will be new pictures
on her site soon, and they may already be
there (Elizabeth was working on it).
UPDATE: 4-1
Dear Friends,
I had the privilege of driving "Miss Daisy"
to her doctor's appointments at U.V.A. It
was a very good experience, in spite of the
rain...which actually was a blessing, because
Moriah could ride without the sun hurting her
eyes. Once we go there, she was able to stay
in one room, and instead of 2 doctor's visiting
with her (original appts.)...she had 7!! ....A
popular little lady. :)
Here are the results of her visit:
The cardiologist ordered an EKG and an ultra-sound.
They found out that her heart is totally healed and
normal...PRAISE GOD!! There is no leakage around her
patch at all. :)
The G.I. doctors are working with her to get
this reflux under control. They are starting her
on a new medication that will eliminate
all the acid. They said that this has been
very effective in stopping reflux. So
we are PRAYING.
The reason that this is so important is
because they really want to get this straight
before they proceed with surgery to construct a
rectum and colon for her. The doctor that
discussed this with Cheryl was very professional,
and we had peace with his recommendations. He
would like to go ahead with the surgery without
doing a colostromy bag first.....BUT, would like
the option of doing one during surgery, if needed,
depending on how much reconstructive work has to be
done. All the doctors want to work very closely
as a team...and this gave us lot of peace. They
have her best interests in mind, addressing
all of her needs as a whole.
SO....we need to Pray that this new medication
will work on the reflux, so that she doesn't
require surgery there too, as a last resort.
Also, that they will find minimal problems,
when they do the surgery, so she will not need
to have a colostromy bag.
Ultimately..we are praying for complete healing,
and that she would not even need surgery at all...
but we are happy with however God chooses to
heal her..whether it be through doctors, or His
Divine intervention of a creative miracle. :)
Also...Praise God, her weight is back up to 15
lbs. 12 oz. Thank you so much for your prayers!!!
Thank You Father, for guiding us every step of
the way!! We love You,
Lord!!
Love In Christ,
Julie
UPDATE: 3-25
Dear Friends,
I talked to Cheryl and she said that the
x-ray revealed that Moriah has a fractured
collar bone. She has no idea how this happened....
the doctors said that she has very small
bones, so we just don't know if she was
just moved the wrong way, or what. Cheryl
is very puzzled by it and would like to know
how it happened. Please pray that they find
out. The doctor ordered therapy, but other
than that, there is not much more that they
can do....except we can pray. :) Cheryl said
that she is already acting like she is feeling
a lot better. Please continue to pray for her
digestive system. Cheryl said that she has not
thrown up her food since last Wednesday, which
is great, because it was happening at every meal.
Prayer works! Thank you!! Thank You Father!!!
UPDATE: 3-24
Please pray for Moriah. Cheryl just called
and said that they are taking her to the
emergency room. They are not sure what the
problem is, but every time that she is moved
or picked up, she starts crying. Cheryl said
that there seems to be an area on her shouder,
near her Trach, that is botherig her. PLEASE
PRAY that they will find the problem, and that
she will be healed. I will post another update
as soon as I hear from Cheryl. Moriah is ALWAYS
so good-natured..it is sad to see her cry. :(
Thank you so much for your prayers. God bless
you all. Thank You Lord.
Love In Christ,
Julie
UPDATE: 3-23
Dear Friends,
Please pray for Moriah tonight. We sent
out an update about a week ago letting
everyone know that she has been having
a real time with her digestive system.
Cheryl changed her over to a pre-digested
formula. At first, she seemed to be doing
much better, but now she has gotten raw
from one end to the other. Her throat is
sore and she won't take her food by mouth,
and her little bottom is raw too. She is
very uncomfortable. Cheryl thinks that
there was just too much acid (or enzymes)
in it. She is switched her back to a soy
formula today, but she needs healing of
this rawness in her digestive system and
a solution to get her on something that
will benefit her body, and not cause her
to get sick. We thank you so much for your
prayers, May God richly bless you.
Thank You Father.
Your Sister In Christ ,
Julie
UPDATE: 3-17
Dear Friends,
Please continue to pray for Moriah. She went
to her doctor this week to see about doing the
preliminary surgery for her colon and rectum.
It was decided to wait until her digestive
system gets stronger and working properly. As
you know from previous updates, she has had a
hard time keeping her food down. She has lost
a little more weight also. Cheryl has switched
her formula to a pre-digested brand. She seems
to be doing a lot better with that. She has only
thrown up twice since Monday. She REALLY needs
a breakthrough in this area. Sometimes she goes
weeks with no problems, and then she will go
weeks with not being able to keep her food down.
PLEASE keep praying for her, that God would bless
her food and water and that it would be a benefit
to her body. We have come too far to grow faint
now. We need to press in, and claim her
victory in Jesus. She needs ALL of our prayers
for strength, healing, and wholeness.
We THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I will post another
update as soon as I hear any more from Cheryl.
Thank You Father. Love In Christ,
Julie
