Moriah's Story

A POEM FOR MORIAH

Another Poem for Moriah

UPDATE: 2-15-02

UPDATE: 11-15

Hello...I just talked to Cheryl..she said that Moriah's
saturation levels are dropping for no reason. They
even had the respiratory therapist come out to check
the machines...she asked for prayer for wisdom as
to what's happening...and for them to level back off
to normal.

Thank you for your prayers....Julie

UPDATE: 11-13

Moriah is doing much better. I did speak to the
doctor today. I told them I put her on O2,
increased her water intake and increased chest
PT. The doctor was okay with all that I did.
I give the Lord praise that we have not
needed to use the O2 today. She has been
resting well today. The doctor went
ahead and put Moriah on Septra for 10 days
to help knock this stuff out. She is still very
tried. Please continue to pray for strength
and healing. Thank you.

UPDATE: 11-11

I need to put in a prayer request for Moriah.
She is running a low grade fever. She had a
cold on Thursday when I took her to the doctors.
On that same day he went ahead and gave her
the RSV shot and Flu shot. Since then she has
been pretty fussy and mad at the world. I am
doing some other things for her to help her
feel better and breathe better. If you could
get this out I would greatly appreciate it.
I will talk with you later. Love you

Cheryl and Moriah

UPDATE: 11-02

Dear Friends,
Please pray for Moriah as she has been getting
congested today. Her nurse suctioned her Trach
36 times...and there has been some yellowish
secretions in it. She has also had a rash on
her bottom and near her Trach...but that is
getting better. We would really appreciate
your prayers for her health.

Also, Cheryl has asked me to pass on this
"Praise Report." A little while back Moriah
started regressing. She didn't want to eat and
her muscles were getting weak. Cheryl began
to ask the Lord for wisdom...and He led her
right to the problem. It turns out that Moriah was
getting an adult dosage of Lasix, with no
Potassium supplements. For some reason
this dosage was not followed closely when
it was prescribed and she was getting double
what she was supposed to have.

Praise God once this was addressed...she was
totally weaned off the Lasix...and with the
Potassium supplements, she is eating again
and gaining her strength back. Cheryl said
if the Lord didn't reveal it to her...she
would have just continued to get weaker. We
praise God and thank Him for His wisdom and
guidance!!!!

Please continue to pray for protection,
complete health, and wisdom in
Moriah's care. We will be sending out the
results of her Cat Scan in the next few days.
Thank You so much for your prayers!! Thank You
Lord!!

Love In Christ,
Julie

UPDATE: 9-26

Please keep Moriah in prayer as she will
be having surgery at 11:30 tomorrow (Thursday)
to remove any blockages that they might find
in her throat. She has not been able to eat
by mouth very good for a couple of weeks,
so the doctors think something is there.
She will stay overnight, and come home the
next day.

Other than that, she has been doing great.
Her coordination and motor skills have really
increased, and she is developing more
strength in her upper body. Her weight is
18 lbs. 11 oz. now, and she's really
looking like a "big girl" and not a baby
anymore.

She also has a new name...Aunt Moriah.
Cheryl's oldest daughter Becky
had a healthy baby girl 3 weeks ago. Her
name is McKensie. Moriah is still getting
used to having her niece in the house though,
and she's not sure about lending out her
swing to the new baby. :)

Thank you all for your prayers and I will
update again after her surgery. Thank You
Lord for your loving care.
Love In Christ,
Julie

UPDATE: 9-14

Dear Warriors...Moriah is in need of prayer tonight.

Her saturation levels started to drop into the 80's
and her temp is around 100-101. She is having some
labored breathing and it all came on suddenly.
She has been having some trouble with getting the
Trach in like something is blocking it but shes not
due to get that checked out until the 27th.

Cheryl changed her trach when all this started
and had a little trouble getting it in.
She also threw up earlier today and has
been having some trouble with throwing
up lately.

She's trying to decide about calling doc..
just waiting and watching her to see which
way it goes.

Her stats and breathing did improve a little
while we were talking but her breathing is
still around 150 and is normally 120 or lower.

Please lift Moriah to the Father for healing
from this complication. I will keep you posted.
God is able....Praise His Name....

Julie

UPDATE: 8-12

From:Julie
mailto:yishpan@webtv.net

Dear Friends,
I just talked to Cheryl a little while ago and
they are happily settled at home. She said Moriah
was so glad to be in her own bed. They are just
taking things slow and she is doing good. Her
weight is back up to 17 lbs. 11 oz. and her
temperature has been normal since they came
home. Please continue to pray for protection,
strength, and health. Thank you for your prayers
and support. It is a great comfort. Thank You
Lord!!

UPDATE: 8-10

Dear Friends,

I am happy to say that Moriah is coming home
today after all. raise God!! Her white cell
count went from 19 last night to a normal
12 this morning. Cheryl was so excited! She
said Moriah is tired from all the poking and
prodding, so please pray for her rest and comfort.
Also, Cheryl has asked that we pray for protection
and strength. Thank you all
so much for your prayers! Thank You Lord!!
Love In Christ,
Julie

UPDATE: 8-9

Dear Friends,
I just talked with Cheryl and she said that
Moriah has started running a temperature. It
is 100.6 and she seems very agitated. She is
already on antibiotics so we don't know what's
up. Cheryl thought that they would
be coming home tomorrow. :( Please pray that
Moriah will be completely healed and for
strength and peace for Cheryl. I will keep
you posted when I hear anything
else. Thank you for your prayers.

Thank You Lord.

Love In Christ,
Julie

UPDATE: 8-7

Moriah's colostromy surgery resulted
in two outside openings with an
incision between them. She is not able
to eat for 48 hours from the surgery, so
she is hungry. Her lips are starting to
get chapped and her throat gets dry.
Please pray for her comfort during this time.

UPDATE:
I talked to Cheryl a few minutes ago, they
are giving her some Pedialyte now and Moriah
is happy about that! They will start with
formula, then baby food tomorrow. Cheryl has
asked that we pray for strength, wisdom, and
healing...and thanks you all very much for
your prayers!! They are hoping to come home
Thursday. I will keep you posted.

My thoughts from visiting and talking with
Cheryl... Cheryl realizes and believes
that this is not a set back but a
temporary curve in the road that will
result in God's glory. She is pressing in
that much harder to God's Word, for
His glory to not only be manifested
in Moriah...but that this will be an
opportunity to meet with, and encourage,
other parents of sick children with His
promises and healing. She continues to
run the race, and is not discouraged or
weakened by this in her faith, or trust
in the Truth of God's Word. I know
that God is doing an incredible work in
Cheryl, as much as He is in Moriah...and
we praise Him for it. Everyone that meets
them is touched in some way by
their testimony. God is good!!
Thank you for your prayers!!
Thank You Lord!!

Love In Christ,
Julie

UPDATE: 8-6

Dear Friends,

I talked to Cheryl at about 12:30 a.m. last
night. They had just brought Moriah up to her
room and she was awake. They had given her a
saddle block so she would not be in pain from
the Colostromy. The doctor was able to see what
had happened with her other surgery, and
basically, it just did not hold. They will
look at possible options for her in
about 6 months. Please pray that there are
no complications from this surgery,
especially infection. I will be going
to U.V.A today to visit Cheryl and
Moriah and will not be home until late
tonight, but I will post another
update tomorrow to let you know how she
is doing. Thank you very much to all who
are praying for her. It is a great comfort
to the family and all the responses are
forwarded to them. God Bless.
Thank You Lord.

Love In Christ,
Julie

UPDATE: 8-5 8:00 PM

Moriah will be in surgery within the hour.
She will be there apx. 2 hours and will be
getting a colostomy bag. Please pray for
wisdom for the Doctors and nurses and that
God will guide their hands and thoughts
while at the same time praying for protection
for Moriah. We must not sit still for this
attack by the enemy.

They are saying she will have the colostomy
bag for six months before they will do any
repairs. They don't want to risk scar tissue
that would interfere with her having normal
bowel movements. This is distressing but God
is STILL in control and He has a plan. Please
petition the Father for healing.

Also, please pray for the family. Cheryl and
Mike will need extra strength. Please hold
them up during this time of trial. God is
faithful and we will believe nothing less.

We will keep you updated. It will be several
hours before we know anything else. Thank you
so much for your prayers.

God bless,
Elizabeth

UPDATE: 2:50 pm

I have just heard from Julie. Moriah
will be going to the hospital for a possible
colostomy surgery being done tonight or in
the morning. I will keep you posted. Please
pray that God will heal this before they get
to the hospital. No colostomy bag. We claim
it in Jesus Name. Amen.....

UPDATE: 8-5

We have an emergency request for Moriah.
She is throwing up and has stools coming
from her vagina. This could mean that
the surgery didn't hold. PLEASE, PLEASE,
pray for God to heal in this matter. We
are waiting for the Doctor to call back.

She needs your prayers now.

 UPDATE: 8-2

 Dear Friends,

I went up to U.V.A. on Tuesday and had the privilege
of driving "Miss Daisy" Moriah home from the hospital.
She looked more beautiful than I've ever seen her
and she stayed in a wonderful mood all day.
She played for the whole 3 hour drive home and
she was very happy to get re-acquainted with all
her crib toys when she got home. We are so
thankful that her operation was a complete
 success!! God is GOOD!!!!

Please continue to pray for her as the doctors
have said her healing time will be about 12 weeks.
Thank you so much for your prayers!!! THANK
YOU LORD FOR YOUR CONTINUED FAITHFULNESS!!!!!
 Love In Christ,
 Julie

 UPDATE: 7-30

 Hi everyone,

I just talked to Cheryl and she said Moriah
is doing great, other than being a little sore.
She is eating her regular food and everything is
working fine. :) Her stats are all good as well.
The doctors came to check on her tonight and
said she looks great! They ordered blood-work
and if everything checks out fine, then I will
be driving up with her nurse tomorrow to bring
her home. Praise God!! Even one of the
students who observed the surgery said that
 she had never seen everything
go into place as well as it did on Moriah's
 surgery.

Please pray that she continues to improve
and heal quickly. I will post another update
after she comes home. Thank you SO MUCH for you
prayers!! Thank You Lord for Your continued
glory on her life. We love You and
 praise You!!!

 Love In Christ,
 Julie

 UPDATE: 7-27

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I have been at the hospital
with Moriah and her parents. Moriah's
surgery as you know went wonderfully well.
She came back to the room totally happy and
content and all pretty pink. The Doctor's
report was very positive and encouraging.

We appreciate your prayers and now need to
keep her covered for the next few days.
 Specifically, no infection, no fever,
no complications of any kind, and that
her body functions normally as it should.
Please help us bind the enemy from
interfering with her recovery and healing.

I will keep you updated. Please visit her
page and leave your prayers and messages in
 her guestbook....

 UPDATE: 7-12

 PRAISE REPORT FOR MORIAH:

 Dear Friends,
All I can say is PRAISE GOD!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!
PRAISE GOD!!!!!! Moriah went for her hearing
test yesterday, and they picked up sound
waves!!!!! The last time she had this test,
they labelled her as profoundly deaf. Cheryl
has not accepted that report, and has continued
to speak God's Word over her, claiming His
promises from the Bible!! He is SO FAITHFUL
to His Word....I am just REJOICING!! Cheryl said
that the lady doing testing just about jumped
out of her chair, she was so excited. I believe
that they were not expecting the test to be
 any different..but we were!!! :) What a
testimony!! God is GOOD!! All The Time.

Now Moriah will be going to a Cranial Face
doctor. They will be fitting her with a
 Hearing Bone Conductor Amplifier. (That
praise music she's been hearing will sound
even better! :) They will also be doing
another Cat Scan, and viewing all areas
(mouth, ears, throat, jaw, etc.) to assess
her total medical needs, as far as
ENT. I will keep you updated on the results.

Also, she went to her feeding clinic
yesterday. Her weight is now up to
17 lbs. 13 oz. They were very impressed
with her progress, and they are
working with her to stop her midnight
feed, and want to get her on a
 complete daytime feeding schedule. She
is doing great now with eating by
mouth. We are praying that the G-Button
will be next to go, along with the Trach. :)
God is changing her little body cell by cell.
 Praise You
 Lord!!!!

As far as her strength in her body, they
decided yesterday to make her a Scooter.
She will be able to lay on it, and push
with her arms to get around. This will
help her to gain the strength to crawl. She
will be getting a "specially" made Walker
too. This will increase her leg strength.
I know she will love both of her new "toys." :)

Please remember her in your prayers for her
up-coming rectum surgery. It is the faithful
prayers of partners like you that have kept her
before the Throne...and God is answering!!
 Thank You Lord!!!!!! Thank you
 prayer partners!!!!!!

 Rejoicing In Him,
 Julie \o/

 P.S. Just a reflection...they said she would
not live but a few weeks.
 ISN'T GOD THE BEST???

We claim Psalm 118:17 for her:
I shall not die, but LIVE, and DECLARE the
 works of the LORD.

You GO Moriah!!!!!! Speak to the Nations,
of what GOD has done!!! Amen!

 UPDATE: 7-9

 Dear Friends,
We are so thankful for all of you that
are praying for Moriah! Some of
you have even been following her progress
since birth. As you know she has come through
a lot, to the glory of God, and she is now
facing another major surgery. We would greatly
appreciate your continued prayers of intercession
for her. It means so much.
 http://globalprayerwarriors.org/moriah.html

Moriah is scheduled to have rectum surgery
on the 27th of this month. Her condition
now is that her rectum and vagina are connected
on the inside and she has no anus. This means
quite a bit of re-constructive surgery. Depending
on the amount that needs to be done, will
determine whether or not she needs a colostromy
bag. We are praying that she will not need one,
and that there will be minimal repairs to be done
internally. The track of her rectum needs to be
separated, and re-directed. Please pray for God's
touch in this happening ahead of time, and that
this will be an easy surgery for her.

The doctors are saying she will spend 5 days
in the hospital. She is older now, and likes
her home and family around. We are really
praying that this will not be traumatic to her...
and that it will be 100% successful.

 Also:

She is doing good in all other areas..Praise God!
Her weight is 17 lbs. 8 oz. She is very content,
and her new nurse is truly "Hand" picked. :) She
is working with her constantly, and cuddles and
loves on her all the time. She has learned to
sign the word, "More." (Yeah, and Cheryl is
working on the word, "Lord" now) More Lord!!
She is eating really good (doubled intake by mouth)
 and keeping it down.

Also, she went to Dr. Strope today, and he
wants to see her 1 month after her surgery to
do a scope on her throat, and a sleep
study. If she passes both tests, they will
remove the Trach!!! Praise God! Presently,
she has it capped all day and is doing fine.

 Other Prayer Needs:
She has a hearing test next week, and needs
prayer for complete wholeness of hearing,
and that her ears are opened. Amen.
Also, she needs prayer for upper strength
in her body so that she can sit up, and push
up with her arms to crawl. Right now, she rolls
from place to place. It's really cute, but I
know she would love facing the world "head on."

Thank you for your prayers. Thank You Lord,
for ALL You've done in Moriah's life!

 Love In Christ,
 Julie

 UPDATE: 6-22

 Dear Friends,
We have 2 PRAISE reports for Moriah. Her
thyroid test came back perfectly fine!
Also, her big toes on her feet were smaller
than the next toe....well, the other day Cheryl
happened to look at them and notice that
they are perfectly formed, size and all. I
guess the Lord hears our prayer...."from
the top of her head to the bottom of her
 feet...nothing broken, nothing missing."
 Thank You Lord!

She is starting to learn sign language.
Cheryl says she will need to know it when
she preaches healing to the deaf. :) Amen!!
The first word she is learning is, MORE.....
and Cheryl is going to teach her LORD along
with it. More Lord!! More Lord!! Please pray
for strength in her fingers and hands..

Her weight is 16 lbs. 11 oz. She dropped
down a little during her last 'bout with the
"stuffy nose." She still needs prayer for in this
area, that her nose be completely free of junky
stuff, so she can breathe better and keep her
food down. She has a hearing test on June 26th.
They will be sedating her and reading her brain
waves to see if there is any response to
sound. Please keep this in prayer for healing,
 to the glory of God.

She also has learned to take the spoon from
Cheryl and get it almost to her mouth, if her
nose would just move out of the way..lol...but
 she's getting there.

She will be getting new nursing on Monday,
and we are praying that God has hand-picked
her nurse to be positive and open to the Lord.

She will have another assessment for general
health and the rectum surgery on July 5th. She
 needs continued prayer for strength,
growth, complete wholeness, and wisdom for
 the doctors.

Thank you so much for your prayers for Moriah.
We love and appreciate you all so much! God Bless.
Thank You Father for Your blessed
 glory on her life!!

 UPDATE: 6-14

 Dear Friends,
PLEASE PRAY for Moriah. She has had a stuffy
nose that is keeping her from holding her food
down at times...and she has not been able
to breathe as well. It is hard for her to do
it all at once with the Trach.
 She needs complete healing.

She went to her genetic doctor this week, and
he addressed many things that she needs help
with through therapy or medical intervention.
We are PRAYING for GOD's INTERVENTION.

He says that her ears need to be opened up
medically, as one ear has no opening...and
the other has only a very small opening. She
will be going to have a hearing test on June
26th...and depending on what they find
then, will determine her future treatment/tests.

Also, he said that he noticed that her reflexes
have diminished some since her last visit...and
thinks it may be related to a thyroid problem.
He ordered blood work, and she was taken to 3
different places before they could get a vein,
and finally get enough blood for the
thyroid test. They wanted to get more blood
for other testing of vitamin levels, etc...but
they could not get any more blood.

He wants her needs to be more aggressively
addressed, through therapy and such. He would
like to see her learning sign language...and
he would like for the other doctors to offer
whatever means are available to her for full
development. Cheryl said that this has been
a difficult battle, as many have not expected
her to come this far in the first place, so
 her options have been limited.

She still needs continued prayer for her
rectum, as she goes back to the doctor at the
end of July to have surgery scheduled.

PLEASE join with us in one accord for complete
wholeness in her body, to the glory of God. We
are praying, asking, and believing in her
having received a FULL manifestation of her
healing. We TRUST and BELIEVE in God's promises
and we are STANDING on the Truth of His Word for
her LIFE. We thank you so much for standing with
 us. God bless you all.

Thank You Father for the TRUTH of Your Word!!
We place Moriah in YOUR hands because we know
that you knit her together in Cheryl's
womb to be complete and whole in You. We stand
amazed at Your love and care for us.
Be glorified Father, in Jesus Name. Amen

 UPDATE: 6-2

 Dear Friends,
Please say a little prayer for Moriah tonight.
Cheryl said she has had a little fever, got
sick to her stomach last night, and was not
her usual happy self today....Cheryl is just
keeping an eye on her, but I felt we
should cover her in prayer for God's healing
 touch.

 UPDATE: 5-27

 Dear Friends,

This is where we are as far as prayer for Moriah.
She went to U.V.A. on Thursday, and the doctors
said she looked good. She has gained 1 1/2
lbs. since her last visit..and the Previcid for
 reflux is working good.

Now...for the main prayer need...So that everyone
who has been following her will know how to pray,
I am going to explain what's up with her.
Right now her lower intestinal track (rectum)
is attached to to another organ and needs to be
separated, and the rectum needs to move
back, forming a complete track on it's own.

Also, she will need to have an opening surgically
(or miraculously :) created for normal bowel
movements. She is to go back to the doctor in
July, and they will schedule surgery at that time.
Right now, the doctors are not sure how much
reconstructive surgery will need to be done on
the inside....this will make the difference whether
she needs a colostromy bag or not. It will be
 decided during surgery.

PLEASE PRAY that this separation takes place
before surgery, so that this will not be a major
operation for her. We are already seeing
changes taking place, and we are continuing to
pray, press in, and fast, for God's touch to be
continually changing her, to His Glory!

Thank you so much for your continued prayers.
They are crucially needed at this time. God
Bless You. Thank You Father for all You have
done, and continue to do. We praise Your Holy Name!

Also, Praise God, she just went over 17 months
of LIFE....and the doctors gave her no hope at
birth....what a MIGHTY God we serve!!
 Love In Christ,
 Julie
