A POEM FOR MORIAH
UPDATE 4-17
 Moriah was bright eyed.
 Moriah and her nurse Michelle.
We had a wonderful day with Moriah. She was awake most of
our visit and she seemed very content and peaceful. I talked
with her and loved on her and I even got to help bathe her. I
can't say she liked that part much. You can see from the
pictures above that her nurse spent a lot of time with her
and I will tell you, Michelle gave her very good care. Don't
forget to thank God for the wonderful nurses and doctors who
care for our children.
Moriah has a long way to go, but praise God she is on her way.
She is very tiny and precious and God has already worked
miracles in her life and we watch and wait as He continues
His healing of Moriah. Please continue to pray for her to
be made whole and restored to health. Heartseeker
Tuesday 4-18 Update
Moriah did not come off the ventilator yesterday as
planned. She is stable but was not ready to breathe
on her own. Keep praying.
UPDATE: TUESDAY 4-18 7 PM
I just got off the phone with Moriah's mother and she
said Moriah is doing well. They have got her feeds up
to where they wanted them and Moriah is gaining weight.
They plan to leave the ventilator for a week to give
her time to strengthen and get rid of the fluid on her
lungs. Cheryl, Moriah's mom, sends you her deepest
thanks for your prayers for Moriah and I add my heartfelt
thanks to hers. Heartseeker
UPDATE: FRIDAY 4-21
Moriah is on her way back to Kings Daughters, she is doing
very well, but they are going to wait to take her off
the breathing tubes until Monday so they will be sure that
all the doctors are around since it is Friday they did not
want to take the chance. The friend that I talked to asked
that we please pray for Cheryl, Mike and their family as well.
UPDATE: SATURDAY 4-22
I just talked to Cheryl and she said that they transferred
Moriah back to King's Daughter's because the insurance woud
not cover her any longer there. It was only to cover the heart
procedure and Praise God that was successful!
She arrived back at the hospital at about 8:45 last
night. Cheryl has not been able to get up there yet as
her husband is now in the hospital also. He is in severe
pain and even the morphine has not relieved it. He will
be having an MRI on Monday. He has been out of work for
two weeks and at the present time there is no income
coming into the family. Please pray that God will provide
a way in every situation to meet their needs. Moriah is
stable at the present time but needs immediate prayer
and for her brothers and sisters in Christ to join
together and call forth complete healing of her lungs
so that she will not have to have a trach. We are really
needing prayer for Mike and for the family's needs to be
met. Praise God that He always provides for His children
and we trust you Lord that You will continue to see them
through. Amen,,,,,Julie
UPDATE: MONDAY, 4-24
I just talked to Cheryl and she gave me quite a bit of
information on Moriah. The first and foremost need continues
to be her lungs, especially the left lung. When she was
transferred back to King's Daughters she was on 20 breaths a
minute and she is down to 4 breaths a minute. She receives
x-rays every day to see how her lungs are doing and the
doctor says they are looking a little better. They will be
using the C-Pap today or tomorrow to see how she responds
to it. She needs to be able to breath completely on her
own with no artificial breathing assistance at all. When
she gets to that point she can go home. The prayer needs
to be that God completely make her lungs whole in Jesus
Name as we know that He is able.
Also, they have changed the way that she was fed and
the way that they were helping her to use the bathroom.
She is getting formula now. This has been to Moriah's
favor as the way that she was fed was directly to her
intestines and she was not able to break down the food
as it should be, and now they have started using a
laxative (Senecot) to help her go to the bathroom
as opposed to the way (saline solution) that they were doing
it which was a little harsh on her body. These things were
changed at U.V.A. and they have agreed to keep up with
what U.V.A. was doing. Cheryl has also talked to a genetic
doctor that works with Trisomy babies. He is Dr. Leightman
(I hope I spelled it right). She would like to have him as
Moriah's pediatrician especially since he is familiar with
the needs of Trisomy babies. He works with herbs and natural
alternatives. We need to pray for favor in that area also
as he is not a doctor of King's Daughters.
Cheryl has gotten them to agree to give Moriah Omega3 or
Olive Oil as opposed to plain sugar. It will have more
benefit to her body than just plain sugar. Omega 3 is good
for her brain and Olive Oil is good for her heart and she
will be getting more benefits from them. Cheryl is
requesting prayer that she will know the direction that
the Lord wants her to take in all of Moriah's care especially
for her lungs.
When Moriah gets to 20lbs. she will be able to go back to
U.V.A. to have her rectum fixed so we really need to pray
that God will increase her weight and growth. As her lungs
are healed she will use less energy and burn less calories
so that will be to her favor. They need to keep them
inflated. We need a miracle for her lungs..and Lord, we
trust that you hear our prayers. The doctors have been
willing to work with her nutritional needs, Praise God
for that. Please continue to pray that God places Christian
doctors and nurses in this situation that have an open heart
to the Lord. There will be a meeting this week of the
Doctors and the family to discuss Moriah's future care.
This DEFINITELY needs God's hand and favor prayed over it.
I will let you know when this will take place. Moriah's
weight is up to 5lbs. 4oz. which may not sound like a lot
but her previous weight was attributed a lot to fluid,
after her heart surgery she was able to get a lot of the
fluid weight off so now it's 5lbs.4oz. of baby Moriah,
Praise God!!
At the present time Cheryl's husband is still in the
hospital and will be having an MRI done tomorrow, please
keep that in prayer. We lovingly thank ALL of YOU who
are keeping this family and their needs in your heart
and bringing these needs before the Throne of Grace, we
love you for it. Your support truly gives glory to the
Father. Thank You Heavenly Father for loving us and
hearing and answering our prayers. WE LOVE YOU, LORD!!
Love and Blessings, Julie
UPDATE: TUESDAY, 4-25
I just talked to Cheryl, she is in need of prayer. The
meeting with the doctors took place today. She said they
were kind and even sympathetic with everything that has
happened but, truthful in their eyes. They have told her
that they will be taking Moriah off of the breathing tubes
tommorow morning at about 8:30am. She met with Dr. Santa
who said flat out that Moriah will not make it off the
breathing tubes, as most Trisomy babies do not make it
off the tubes. Cheryl told the Dr. that she is praying
that she will be wrong. If she has problems coming off
of the tubes they will need to do a tracheotomy. Cheryl
is asking for everyone that has been praying to PLEASE
cover her in prayer tommorow morning as they take her
off of the tubes. She does not want her to have to have
a tracheotomy. Let's all join together in prayer and ask
God for a miracle for Moriah and her family. We know that
God has touched her life all of her days, and we pray that
God's glory will shine forth tommorow as a witness to
all who are waiting and watching as this miracle unfolds.
Thank You Lordfor Your AWESOME power.
UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, 4-26
Moriah has been taken off the ventilator and the doctors
do not believe she will survive without the machines. We
know that Moriah's lungs are in the hands of much more
powerful physcian and we ask you to join us in prayer for
this precious baby, that God will touch her lungs and make
them whole.
UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, 4-26 4PM
This is the latest update that we have on Moriah. I
expect to have another one later today. They took
Moriah's breathing tubes out this morning shortly
after 8:30 am. By 11:00, they called Cheryl and said
that her stats had dropped and that she was starting
to turn blue so they put the tubes back in and the next
step would be a tracheotomy. Something about this procedure
today just doesn't seem right. When Moriah was at U.V.A.,
they had taken the tubes out for 4 days with no problem
and at that time she had a collapsed left lung. Cheryl had
wanted to be there but one thing after the next came up
preventing her from getting to the hospital this morning
when this took place. Because of the "feeling" that Cheryl
has about this she has requested that they do it again with
her there to make the decision about whether she needs
them or not. We know by man's standards that doctors
"know best" but in Cheryl's heart, the Head Physician is
giving her the go ahead. Some of the doctors do not understand
her faith or why she doesn't just give up. God has not brought
her this far to let go of His Promises. Please pray
that Moriah be covered in the blood of Jesus that No weapon
will be formed against her. We need to continue to keep her
covered and pray favor with the doctors that they will not
give up but will handle and help Moriah with much loving care.
I will let everyone know what I hear from her after she has
talked to the doctors. Also, she has found out that her
husband has a ruptured disk and they want to keep him in
the hospital and operate which will put him out of work
for 8 weeks. Please pray that God will continue to meet
their needs. I want to thank everyone for your prayers ,
they mean so much! Please keep Moriah and her family
covered. A heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone from
Cheryl and her family also. God Bless, Julie
